Rescues Update

We have been extremely busy with rescues recently, and we thought that we would share some of them with you.

  • We were called to a rescue in Reading, involving one of nine cygnets that had a plastic ring-pull around its beak. The ring-pull was removed onsite and released back to his family.

  • We have also had to rescue a swan in Windsor which the public reported seeing walking with great difficulty.  After we had located it, we found that its webs were badly affected by bumbles.  Bumbles are growths that can be caused by walking on concrete and other hard surfaces.

  • Finally, we recently had to rescue a pair of swans that were covered in oil, this would have been avoided if the containers were disposed of in the correct way. Again our wildlife suffering by an avoidable act.

We would like to thank all the members of the public who reported these incidents.  This is just a fraction of the rescues that we carry out and we will update this website with our work every few weeks.
